3 Principles Towards an Art of Teaching
3 Principles Towards an Art of Teaching
One of the twelve lessons from Spirit-led Education for a Spirit-led Life, this module offers a lesson written by Meaghan Witri - 3 Principles Towards an Art of Teaching
Working with teaching as an art will support the educator to bring a living and true education to the children in their care. As the art of teaching becomes a practice, we shift away from methodologies and move towards what Steiner considered one of the highest forms of art: the art of education.
“[As a teacher, what I have learned to impart to the child] must all be artistically transformed, brought into pictures[...] I must awaken imponderable forces between the child and myself. And in the second life period, from the change of teeth to puberty, what is of far greater importance than the content of what I have learned and carry in my head is whether I can transform into visual imagery, into living forms, what I unfold before the child and have to let flow into him.” Steiner, Rudolf. The Essentials of Education, p 29.
